Home Visitation

Home visitation lessons go over a variety of healthy food choices.

Our home visitation program is governed by the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) grant and allows our adult nutrition educators to conduct home visits to limited-resource families with young children.  To qualify for the EFNEP home visitation program, participants must be food stamp eligible.  Classes are offered in English, Spanish and Hmong.

EFNEP programming can be done on an individual basis or as a group.  The EFNEP Program uses the “Eating Smart, Being Active” curriculum.   This learner-centered curriculum is an 8 week series (90 minutes per session) with lessons focusing on planning meals, increasing fruits and vegetables, whole grains, building strong bones, choosing lean proteins and making healthy food choices.  Each lesson contains food safety information and has an optional physical activity component with exercise bands.  Participants will receive incentives at most lessons and a graduation certificate upon completion of the course.
